Volunteer at Double Exposure

Volunteers play a vital role in the successful execution of the festival, and there are many enriching positions to be found at Double Exposure. We are seeking energetic, creative self-starters who love journalism and/or film, and whose involvement will continue to help make Double Exposure an important part of the community, and meaningful destination for filmmakers and journalists to attend from near and far.

Successful Qualities:

  • Ability to relate to people in a friendly and professional manner
  • Ability to work both independently and on a team
  • Reliable and Responsible
  • Must attend pre-festival training
  • All volunteers must be 18 years or older. Volunteers who work at parties or special events where alcohol is served must be 21 or older.

For venue roles:

  • Free admission for two to any regular screening (excludes Opening Night) and to screenings for which you volunteer

  • Breakfast and lunch as served, when volunteering at the DX Symposium

  • Special 2024 edition of festival volunteer tee shirt

  • Post-festival Volunteer Happy Hour.

For pre-festival roles:

  • Thanks by name on pre-screening trailer

  • Credit for photography and video roles

  • Free admission for two to any regular screening (excludes Opening Night) and to screenings for which you volunteer

 

POSITIONS

General Festival Volunteers

  • Distribute printed material such as posters, postcards, program brochures to pre-defined locations.
  • Vehicle is an asset.
  • Opportunity starting in September.

Film Screening Volunteers 

  • Must commit for a full screening program.
  • Arrive 1 hour before the beginning of the screening.
  • Meet, greet and usher festival attendees into the auditorium. 
  • Provide information about the venue, theater, and program.
  • Help to organize and direct lines.
  • Provide surveys to attendees before screenings, collect cards afterward.
  • Ensure venue is in order after screening. 

Symposium Volunteers 

  • Must commit to at least a four hour shift.
  • Arrive 1 hour before the beginning of the conference.
  • Check in registrants, providing badges and conference materials.
  • Provide information about the venue, surroundings, and overall program.
  • Ensure the speaker has the material necessary for his/ her appearance.
  • Help to organize and direct lines.

DX Access and DX Pitch Volunteer (one-on-one meetings) 

  • Assists in facilitating timed one-on-one meetings between filmmakers, journalists, producers, platform representatives, and funders (meetings pre-arranged by the festival).
  •  DX Access/Pitch takes place Thursday, November 7 and Friday, November 8.
