Double Exposure Academy

DOUBLE EXPOSURE ACADEMY welcomes a diverse cross-section of the academic population: graduate and undergraduate students studying documentary film, investigative journalism, and more broadly cinema or media studies, who will uniquely benefit from this introduction to the industry. In the past five years, over 415 students and faculty from around the country participated in Double Exposure Academy including 19 schools including Berkeley University School of Journalism, Columbia University School of Journalism, George Mason University Film Studies,  Jonathan B. Murray Center for Documentary Journalism at the University of Missouri, Northwestern University, the Craig Newmark School of Journalism at CUNY and Skidmore MDOCS among many others. Our DX Academy Pass provides access to the entire symposium and film screenings as well as to special programming dedicated to the students. This year DX Academy is available both in person and online.

In 2020 we launched a new initiative DX Academy Pitch, providing students an opportunity to develop, refine and perfect pitches for their investigative film projects. All DX Academy students, even those not nominated or selected, had the opportunity to observe the pitch rehearsal for the selected projects, run by Judith Helfand, co-creator of Chicken & Egg Pictures, filmmaker (A Healthy Baby Girl, Blue Vinyl, Cooked) and professor at the Columbia University School of Journalism.

DXA is available for colleges and universities sending groups of students and faculty to Double Exposure. For more information and assistance with registration, please contact: [email protected]
