DX Academy offers students and faculty from film, journalism, and media studies programs a rare opportunity: full access to the Double Exposure Investigative Film Festival at a steeply discounted rate, including the new DX Public Forum, film screenings with director Q&As, and dedicated small-group sessions with celebrated filmmakers from the DX26 slate.
What students experience:
This year’s festival theme, On the Record: Evidence in an Age of Doubt, anchors a public forum designed to open the tools of investigative journalism to civic audiences. For students, that means immersion in the conversations shaping the future of documentary: how to authenticate images and video in an age of AI, how to use public records and open-source investigation, what it takes to speak out from inside an institution, and how to protect the historical record when platforms erase it overnight. Every film screening is followed by a conversation with the filmmakers behind the work.
Beyond the forum, DX Academy students participate in dedicated small-group conversations with filmmakers from the festival slate. DX creates the kind of candid, informal access to working professionals that no classroom can replicate.
In the past decade, over 550 students and faculty have attended Double Exposure through the Academy program, from programs including UC Berkeley School of Journalism, Columbia University School of Journalism, the Craig Newmark School of Journalism at CUNY, Northwestern University, the Jonathan B. Murray Center for Documentary Journalism at the University of Missouri, George Mason University, and Skidmore MDOCS, among many others.
