Peter Engel graduated from the Danish School of Media and Journalism in 1992. Since then, he has worked in film, television, and radio production with a range of prominent companies, including Zentropa, Nordisk Film, Koncern TV, DR, and TV 2.

In 2011, Engel founded his own production company, Wingman Media, which produces auteur-driven documentary films for the international cinema market, as well as TV documentaries, radio, podcasts, and books.

Engel’s work in film production has primarily focused on documentaries exploring political issues, human rights, and the global industry. He has produced several of Mads Brügger’s acclaimed and controversial political documentaries, including The Red Chapel (2009), The Ambassador (2011), and Cold Case Hammarskjöld (2019). The Red Chapel won the Grand Jury Prize in the World Cinema Documentary Competition at the Sundance Film Festival.

He has also co-produced a number of international documentaries, such as Inside Fur (2014) and Mogadishu Soldier (2017), both selected for IDFA.
