Malikkah Rollins

Director of Industry and Education

Malikkah Rollins is an independent documentary and narrative producer based in Washington, DC and originally hails from New York City. She is a trained psychotherapist which she served for 10 years. Malikkah was a 2019 Docs in Progress Fellow and is on the board of Women in Film and Video (DC). She was line producer on several films such as Catalyst and a location producer on  “Loudmouth”, a doc in production about the Rev. Al Sharpton.  In the narrative world, she directed her first narrative short with the Maine Media Labs Narrative Director’s Program and recently produced a narrative short, Tell Me About Orange, that won the Jane Cusumano Finishing Fund Grant. She also facilitates weekly small group discussions with doc filmmakers through the D Word. Her next project is exploring the arc of womanhood from hypersexualization of tweens to the desexualization of aging women. Besides producing, she also strives to elevate the industry-wide conversation around mental health for documentary filmmakers and the communities in which they tell stories.
