Lewam Dejen is a Stanford student studying International Relations with a primary specialization in Africa. She is Eritrean-American and particularly passionate about human rights, protection of marginalized communities, and journalism. Her involvement on campus includes work with First-Generation and/or Low-Income Partnership (FLIP), STATIC (a progressive publication on campus), and the Silicon Valley non-profit organization African Diaspora Network. Additionally, she conducts social psychology research for Stanford’s Graduate School of Education and edits for Stanford’s International Relations journal.
Her aspirations to work on investigative journalism stem from personal and familial experiences, international history & culture courses, and time spent studying oral narratives. She is excited to join 100Reporters as a summer intern!
