Ash Guevara (he/him) is the Pulitzer Center’s IT Manager, bringing nearly a decade of cybersecurity expertise to protecting journalists and their critical work. Prior to joining the Pulitzer Center, he served as a cybersecurity specialist with the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), where he helped secure hundreds of partners worldwide for high-profile investigations including Lunda Leaks, FinCEN Files, and Medical Devices.

With extensive experience in secure communication technologies, Ash has been instrumental in enabling anonymous source engagement that has led to groundbreaking global investigations. As both a certified Scrum Master and project management professional, he brings structured leadership to complex security initiatives.

Recognizing that the threat landscape evolves constantly, Ash is committed to continuous learning and staying ahead of emerging cybersecurity challenges. He has a particular passion for security awareness education, believing that informed users are the strongest defense against cyber threats. This educational focus extends beyond his professional role—when time allows, he volunteers his expertise with a mission to serve the underserved & marginalized communities around him ensuring that they have access to cyber security education and a local resource to call upon for help with their technology.

When he’s not immersed in the digital world, Ash enjoys spending time outdoors, balancing his love for nature with his enthusiasm for gaming. He maintains a passion for tinkering, teaching, and continuous learning, currently focusing on hacking fundamentals while cultivating his digital garden—a reflection of his belief that cybersecurity, like gardening, requires patience, attention, and constant nurturing.
