In early-1990s Los Angeles, Billy London was a performer in gay adult film. His brutal killing in West Hollywood went unsolved and hardened into neighborhood legend, retold for three decades by people who knew him and many who didn't.

Rachel Mason, whose parents ran the storied gay bookstore at the heart of her earlier film Circus of Books, set out to make a tribute to a life cut short. Instead, friends, former colleagues and members of the community began surfacing clues that had been overlooked for years, and the tribute became a cold-case investigation.

Steeped in the neon and grit of the era, the film revisits a time when gay men had every reason to distrust the police, and when a killing like this one could slip from public memory. What it finds is a portrait of a community, and of what happens when people finally decide to talk.
