Director Norah Shapiro unveils the harrowing, long-buried story of widespread sexual abuse at America’s most celebrated children’s theater, the Children's Theater Company in Minneapolis. Drawing inspiration from the painstaking investigative reporting of award-winning journalist Elizabeth Foy Larsen, the film traces how survivors—many once silenced—joined forces to confront their abusers and challenge the powerful institution that enabled them.
Shapiro’s documentary is rooted in Larsen’s landmark feature, “The Exit Strategy,” which first illuminated both the scale of harm and the complex path to justice for a wider audience. The film follows the group’s courageous pursuit of accountability, justice, and healing, chronicling their transformation from trauma to hope.
Screening followed by audience talkback with Norah Shapiro, Elizabeth Foy Larsen, and Anthony Edwards, who executive produced the film.
