Citizen-generated videos have become an integral piece of countless important news stories, but they represent only the first tier of open-source materials available to investigative storytellers. With a Wi-Fi connection and the right know how, a wealth of information, including emergency audio recordings, documents, CCTV footage, satellite imagery, and flight and shipping traffic, can be unlocked. Visual forensics involves not just knowing what’s available and where to find it, but most crucially verifying its authenticity and context, interrogating source material to reveal new and impactful findings.

Join Sarah Cahlan and Meg Kelly, founders of The Washington Post’s award-winning Visual Forensics unit, for this hands-on workshop to expand your investigative filmmaking toolkit.
