The average person spends two hours a day browsing the social internet, consuming information that influences their decisions on everything from voting to healthcare to how they spend their money, and more. But which narratives might be influenced by hidden networks echoing claims in a coordinated manner, with the goal of dominating your feed? How can we uncover messaging that targets certain demographic groups to polarize them?

This session provides exclusive access to Arbiter, a private platform developed to investigate digital deception campaigns. The platform exposes the networks that shape your feed before it shapes your views. It provides a real-time solution to the question “How do you audit the digital information you are consuming before it shapes the lens through which you view the world?”

Arbiter has received signups from 150+ newsrooms and civil society orgs. in 40+ countries and was recently featured in a Nieman Journalism Lab cover story. At this hands-on workshop, Arbiter’s creator will run a digital investigation exclusive to each attendee, with free access for the duration of the session and shortly after. You will learn to create a digital investigation of your choosing into issues that are top of your mind, so that you can uncover the networks of accounts shaping the conversation across major social platforms, in under 45 minutes.

Double Exposure offers a variety of festival passes that provide attendees with priority access to a range of events. We also offer a limited number of standalone tickets to individual events, providing a more flexible way to participate.
