Nicole Guillen

DX Student Pitch

Nicole Guillen is a documentary filmmaker and photographer currently earning her masters in News & Documentary journalism at New York University. She has an extensive background in the area of legal psychology, and her research has been published in multiple academic and legal journals such as the Albany Law Review and APLS 2022. She is passionate about creating change within the criminal justice system and wants to utilize the power of human storytelling to bring awareness to topics such as wrongful convictions, mass incarceration, and police misconduct.

In today’s competitive market, learning how to effectively pitch your documentary is just as important as honing your writing and editing skills. And who better to learn from than the experts? Six college students enrolled in film and journalism programs across the U.S. will present their projects to a panel of industry professionals. Judith Helfand, independent filmmaker and co-founder of Chicken & Egg Pictures, will moderate and provide pitch training.
