Daniel Roher’s films have taken him to every corner of the globe, from Japan to Uganda to Nunavut and beyond. Best known as the Director and Editor of Once Were Brothers: Robbie Robertson and The Band, Roher’s film had the honor of being the first Canadian documentary to be selected as the opening night film at the Toronto International Film Festival (‘19). The film, which features Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton, Peter Gabriel and more, was executive produced by Martin Scorsese, Ron Howard, Brian Grazer, Justin Wilkes and Sara Bernstein. Roher’s earlier works, like Survivors Rowe, Ghosts of Our Forest, and Finding Fukue, earned the distinctions of nominations for Canadian Screen Awards, premiering at Hot Docs Film Festival in Toronto, broadcasting on TVO, amassing over 7 million views across digital media via CBC, and screening to lawmakers on Parliament Hill in Ottawa. Roher is an ambitious and fearless filmmaker that aspires to tell big stories to reach a global audience. He is also an accomplished visual artist and photographer.
